What is Spiritual Direction?
Often called spiritual direction, you and Spirit lead the way.
It is more about finding your direction than being directed. An accompaniment session is a conversation between you and what is sacred, holy, or divine to you; my role as your companion is to listen, ask good questions, and help facilitate that conversation.
Spirituality can influence or impact all areas of our lives, so there are many avenues to explore in spiritual accompaniment. Perhaps you have moved to a new place and feel adrift without a spiritual community, maybe you have lost a loved one, maybe your work is soul-sucking and you want to feel more inspired, perhaps you need a space to celebrate an important milestone in your spiritual life.
Serving as a spiritual director is unlike many other helping professions in that I will not diagnose, prescribe, solve, or instruct you through our time together. My goal is to hold space and invite you to attune to that which you hold sacred and offer support in wherever your spiritual journey may lead.
What to Expect in a Session
Each session will begin and end with a brief spiritual practice, in between is space for silence, questions, and the voice of Spirit.
We meet for one hour via Zoom or in person. I recommend meeting roughly once per month, but the frequency of sessions can be more or less as your prefer.
Before making any commitment, I offer a free introductory session to get to know one another. If we decide to move forward, I will ask you to complete an intake form, and we will establish a formal agreement regarding the relationship between companion and seeker, confidentiality, fees, and loose timing of our sessions.
About language.
Language is hard. Even with definitions, words I use to describe the Sacred may not feel right for you. For the purposes of explaining this whole endeavor, I try to find language that feels right to me and is broad enough for folks from a variety of backgrounds. Whatever language you use to refer to your experience of that which is awe inspiring is what we’ll use as we work together. We may even find new words or definitions as we go.
Rates
I believe in transparent pricing and that advertising my fees helps you to make the best decision. My offerings are always offered on a sliding scale. If the amounts listed present a financial burden, please reach out so we can find the rate or payment arrangement best for you.
Individual Spiritual Direction
Online via Zoom. Typically, meetings are monthly.
Sessions may consist of questions, reflection, periods of silence, spiritual practices, and most often a combination of all. They are your time to listen for and explore your connection with whatever you hold sacred.

Outdoor Sessions
In-person spiritual accompaniment sessions in a natural setting. Similar to online sessions in that the time is yours. Half of the session will be spent in the forest either while sharing or in silence. The second half will be seated time for reflection and questions.

Group Spiritual Accompaniment
Themed groups typically begin in Fall and Winter. Check back for details.
I work with both existing groups and run specialized or themed groups on 3-9 session cycles. Group spiritual accompaniment allows the group to share together in seeking and providing companionship.

Ethics & Supervision
Spiritual care work is serious work and I commit to the responsibilities I have as your spiritual companion. That means understanding and setting healthy boundaries, committing to my own spiritual development and deepening, recognizing what I can and cannot help you with, and holding what you share with me in confidence. As such, I adhere to the Code of Ethics developed by Spiritual Directors International. Click here to review the full code of ethics.
In addition to adhering to the Code of Ethics, I meet regularly with a peer group of other spiritual directors, spiritual companions, and ministers for what we call supervision. These consultation sessions allow me to reflect on my experience as a companion, improve, and maintain accountability.
